The Colorful Beauty and Grime of Communa 13

A little over 15 years ago, Comuna 13 was the most dangerous part of Medellín-and all of South America. Thanks to the metro and gentrification, it’s now a popular area for politically-charged graffiti and aspiring hip-hop dancers. Conflict still happens-even a week ago, gang tensions prevented us from coming here-but groups are continuously working toward peace. Witnessing the colors of this planet, its culture and its people continues to be one of the greatest gifts of my lifetime
