Walked—Thousands!—Of Miles In These Shoes
I don’t travel with much these days, making what I take along, that much more valuable. It feels odd to be sentimental about shoes-but this pair from Brooks Running have had quite, well, a run:
-Six months of running errands in New York, squeezing in every fitness class I could, moving everything out of my apartment, walking to meet friends, bittersweetly saying “see ya later.”
-Workouts on pebble beaches in Split, Croatia, hiking to see the view about Old Town and at-home balcony burpees in my first temporary home.
-“Tigar Tuesday” classes in the park in Prague, long walks and sightseeing tours through Germany, Hungary, Austria and Italy.
-Adventuring through the Sahara Desert in Morocco and scaling the cliffs in Algarve, Portugal.
-Biking through the muted and beautiful streets of Kyoto, Japan and climbing rope bridges and rock walls in Malaysia.
-Beach hopping at sunset in Sydney, Australia, and catching a cab in Bali.
-Working out in a small gym in Thailand, climbing to the tallest peak of the country, washing elephants in mud and touring through the islands.
-Scaling the shore to see volancoes and sprawling views after an 11-hour, overnight flight in New Zealand.
-Horseback riding through the Andes and playing tennis on a vineyard in Argentina.
-Sandsurfing down nearly 90-degree dunes and hiking Machu Picchu in Peru.
-And finally, their last hoorah was a 4-hour trek through a rainforest and repelling down a waterfall in Colombia.
Even with all that? Only one shoe revealed a hole at the toes. This is not an ad—but I’m impressed!
Thanks for keeping up with me kicks, it’s been quite the adventure through climates and conditions, running and walking, biking and hiking and beyond. Now? Time to shop – have my 30th country -surfing in Nicaragua – coming up soon.
