Remote Year Yugen: Thailand, January 2018
There’s so much that’s beautiful (and wonderful and ya know, the list goes on) about traveling. Each day I woke up in Thailand this month – from Chaing Mai to Krabi – I fell a little more in love with this country. The food, the people, the markets, the views, the animals, the nature, the… everything!
Since the end of our journey here on Friday marks the half-way point of Remote Year, i find myself reflecting on all of the joy of the year, how much it’s changed me and how lucky I continue to feel to be part of this Yugen community. Especially today, when my fear of the dentist got super-charged, since a bad toothache sent me on a 3-hour adventure. Tomorrow, I’ll get a tooth pulled in Thailand (cue: spontaneous crying since I hate nothing more than being in that chair).
But what’s getting me through is knowing I’m surrounded by such caring, funny, thoughtful, supportive and special people, who aren’t only there to play with elephants and visit fancy hotel take trips to mountaintops or sticky waterfalls, or get tipsy with on a Saturday. They’re also checking in on your via WhatsApp, offering you smoothies, calling you to talk through your diagnosis, ask questions to dentists when you can’t formulate words and hold your hand because you’re scared.
I already knew how much I loved you Yugen, but never as much as I do now. Here’s a (ahem, long, but worth it) video of some of the magic of this month.
