Hi there, I’m Lindsay Tigar

(Yes, pronounced like the animal.)

I became a journalist to come as close as possible to the heart of the world.” —Henry R. Luce

I’m a seasoned travel and lifestyle journalist, content strategist and editor with more than a decade of experience. I’m one of the lucky ones who has known exactly what she wanted to be when she ‘grew up’—a writer. My insatiable curiosity and wanderlust spirit has built a robust career and a digital nomadic lifestyle that takes me to every corner of the world. From London and Lisbon, Morocco and Japan to New Zealand and Lima, and beyond, anywhere my laptop and I can go to find an angle—we do.

Current Work
Today, I report feature stories for a myriad of leading publications and websites—from Travel + Leisure and Vogue to USA Today, Fast Company, Reader’s Digest and many more. I investigate a range of topics, including travel and hospitality, career and entrepreneurism, health, fitness and relationships. In addition to my journalism work, I consult various organizations on their editorial, content and SEO strategies. I’ve developed calendars and blogs for travel agents and dating websites, written white papers and marketing materials for online job boards and ghostwritten for C-level executives and fitness brands—to name a few.

Professional Kudos
Since hey, women still make 70 cents to a man’s dollar, I work with budding generations of female writers. After making the big move from Asheville, North Carolina to New York City in 2010—sans apartment or job— I was inspired to create the Ed2010 Buddy System in 2010 to help other aspiring wordsmiths. Since its inception, this program has matched more than 300 recent graduates with entry-level editors to guide them through the media industry and of course, the Concrete Jungle. I’ve also spoken at several industry conferences, podcasts, and webinars, as well as served as an expert discussing journalism, content strategy and travel for many publications and organizations. Beginning in August 2017, I  proudly joined Remote Year, as part of the Yugen community. Since then, I’ve been lucky to travel the world while working remotely and writing as many stories as I can. In 2018, I was honored to be named one of the ‘35 Change-Makers Under 35‘ by travel company, Contiki.

For Fun
When I’m not busy filing deadlines across time zones, you can find me sampling cold brews, taking a boxing class, scouring every city for a handmade coffee mug from a local artisan (I currently have 32 from 32 countries—and counting), making friends with each stray dog I find, and likely ending the day with a great glass of South American cabernet.

But even in my spare time? I’ve likely got a pen or a keyboard within sight.

Bottom Line
Plain and simple: I love to write. Anything and everything—but mostly the interesting, empowering things. I love bringing the stories of the world, its people and its cultures to life. Let me help illustrate yours, your brand’s or your publication’s, today.
